Lets start first, about me. I am Bob, born in 1941 just 6 months before Pearl Harbor was
attacked. I lived in San Diego, Ca. the first six years of my life and remember a little of
WWII.
Fast forward to 2006, I have been in the trucking business for almost 20 years. I came in from a
trip in June unhooked my trailers - all three, did my paper work and drove the
tractor home. I pulled into the yard in front of the house and as I get out I say to myself, "I am
done". The truck sat there till Jan 2007 and I sold it. In those six months I had decided to start
a web business but didn't know exactly how. I went to a seminar of a company that sells websites
with all the help to set them up etc and didn't know enough to make a corrrect decision. So, I
spent $6K right there and thought I was going to make a lot of money.
It does not work that way and if you are approached by Stores Online or any other company or
person that says you can make a lot of money fast and easy on the internet, run!
First it does not, I repeat does not cost a lot to start. You don't have to invest all that
money in someone else's system. Let me tell you how you can start for a few dollars.
First do your homework, do you have an idea? Check it out, is someone else doing the same thing?
How much competition will you have? Who will be interested in your product or idea? Are people
looking for what you have? And many more questions can and should be answered before you make the
leap.
Now if I had gone to the web and searched around a bit I would have found software to help me
build a website although my favorite program was not available at the time which is XSite Pro which this site is built with. That company I went with charged
me $25 per month hosting fee for each website. I now pay less than 1/3 of that to host as many
sites as I want at Hostmonster and you can get it right now for only $5.95 per month! I wish
I had my $6k back but guess I just payed for experience I really did not need.
By the way that company I paid $6k to? Their store builder program was a bear to work with. Took
forever to work in it, I have a store with over 60 products and over 200 variations and it took
days to update it. Now I can add a product or variation in a couple minutes. That site is not built
with XSite Pro but in another ecommerce system that did not cost me an arm and a leg either and is
hosted on another hosting account I have. I will probably move that site to Hostmonster when the rent is due on it.
